Hearth of Brighid Witchcraft · Wicca · Paganism — from the practitioner's hearth

Privacy

We are witches, not advertisers. This page exists because the law and good manners both ask for it, and because we would like you to know how little there is to tell.

What this site collects

Nothing is sent to us when you read these pages. There is no analytics script, no advertising network, no social media button quietly reporting back, no newsletter pixel. The pages are plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript served from a web host, and the host keeps the ordinary server logs that every web host keeps: the address your connection came from, the pages requested, and the time. We look at those logs about as often as we defrost the freezer.

What stays on your own machine

The little hearth counter in the sidebar remembers how many times you have visited. It does this by storing a single number in your browser's local storage, on your device. That number never leaves your device and we cannot see it. If you clear your browser data the counter starts again at one, which is as it should be.

We do not set cookies. We do not use fingerprinting. The moon phase, the next Sabbat and the blessing of the day are all worked out by your own browser from the date on your own clock.

When you write to us

The contact page opens your own mail program and addresses a message to us. We receive whatever you choose to send and nothing more. We keep correspondence as long as it is useful and then delete it. We never share your name, your email address, or anything you tell us with anyone outside the small circle of Hearthkeepers who answer the mail, and we do not add you to any list unless you ask us to.

The one exception, and we hope never to need it, is where someone's safety is at risk. Our covenant says more about that.

Links to other hearths

Our Kindred Hearths page links to other websites. Each of them has its own practices and its own privacy page. We chose them because we like them, not because we vouch for their cookies.

Children

This site is written for adults and for older teenagers who are reading with the knowledge of their families. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age.
